FIFA SOCCER 11: “We Are 11″ Series, Episode 8 – “Jozy Altidore”

Posted under soccer stats

EA SPORTS FIFA SOCCER 11 and VBS.TV invite you to New Jersey, the birthplace of Jozy Altidore. Although he’s one of North America’s brightest, young soccer stars, his skills on the field have taken him to Europe’s most prestigious leagues. He’s currently fighting for a starting spot at Villareal in Spain’s La Liga.

We decided to go visit him in Philly—an hour from where he was born— to chat about his exposure as a US player and to find out about what keeps him grounded.

So we did the obvious: hung out, took him to get some of Geno’s Famous Philly Cheese Steaks, and talked soccer with a 20 year old who is poised to be one of the most important American soccer players of our time.

You’re aware that the term “soccer” came from ENGLAND, right? Blame your ancestors for shortening “association football”. Football is an umbrella term that can apply to soccer, rugby, or gridiron (US/Australian/Canadian football).

Oh, and fyi, FIFA does not stand for International Federation of Association Football. It stands for Fédération Internationale de Football Association.

  25. walkerctranger Says:

    I love Altidore. …
I love Altidore. Hes not the best player yet but hes still really young. So far hes not the best at scoring but what hes really good at is clearing space and making oppertunites. Im not even sure if striker is the best position for him. Hed probably be better around the midfield because he loves to charge straight through the defense. But normally when he does hes alone up towards the corners with no one to help so thats why nothing comes out of alot of his plays.
